Favorite Pins Friday {July 5}

I am linking up with Cara at First Grade Parade for her Favorite Pins Friday linky party.

I have three pins to share with you: one classroom, one recipe and one for the home.

The first is my classroom pin.  I loved this tree!  I love all the circles of different sizes and colors and knew I needed this in my classroom.  I cannot find a picture of mine (so sad), but I do have a tree inspired by this pin right when you walk in the door of my classroom. I used 2 different cardstock packs and some sparkle paper.  All of my circles are uniform sizes though.  Each big circle is 4 1/2" (solid color), middle circle is 3 1/2" (patterned), inside circle 2 1/2" (sparkle).  My students' family pictures are on the tree with a label above the tree "our family tree".  I've had many compliments on the tree from parents, staff and visitors.  I was surprised how easy it was to make and was not as time consuming as I thought it might be.

This summer I've been finding recipes on Pinterest and giving them a try.  Yesterday I wrote about one of my most recent great recipes, but I don't want you to have to hear about that one again.  You can check those EASY cookies out here.  I am going to share my favorite dinner recipe I've tried.  The person I pinned it from calls it "baked risotto", I call it "cheater risotto".  If you have ever made risotto, you know that it is a bit time consuming but oh so good.  In this version, you do a little bit on the stovetop then throw it in the oven (with some veggies wrapped in foil on the side) and about 35 minutes later you have risotto.  It is awesome!

My final pin today is for my house.  I bought a condo a few months ago and I am working on getting it decorated.  It is actually bigger than my house was, so more walls to decorate.  This pin is something I want to try because I think it looks pretty (and hopefully easy?).  I bought a canvas and 4 different colors of scrapbook paper that I think (hope) go well together.  We'll see how it comes out.  Watch for it on an upcoming "Made It Monday".

I hope you found some ideas that you can use.  Link up with Cara to share your favorite pins.  I'm looking forward to lots of new ideas!

  1. I love your family tree idea! I did something similar and allowed each student to bring in a framed picture from home. It was one of my most complimented parts of my room from parents and other teachers alike!

  5. I also love that tree with circles. I recreated something similar to it last year and used the Seven Habits words on the circles. It was really cute! Found you thru the Fav. Pin linky!
