I quickly visited my classroom today for the first time this summer. I had a PD this morning so decided to stop on in.
Here is the mess I left behind. You can't see the cubbies, but they are stuffed full :(
Science curriculum materials magically started showing up today (we didn't know they were coming) so something has to give to get more storage. My question for you is what is your "purging" rule? How do you decide what gets to stay and what has to go?
I love to purge! I think it is a problem:) I would say if you are teaching the same grade, purge it if you haven't used it in the last year or two:) Good Luck!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been in K for 8 years...things accumulate! I pitched 3 brutes in the spring, but apparently I didn't purge enough. Going to go through things again and feel good about it!

Nicole, we could start a club! I also love to purge. Rarely have I missed anything I've purged. As soon as I find a better resource for a standard, the old one is gone. It helps keep my ADD in check;)

Mine is more "stuff". The kind of stuff that you pick up because "I'll come up with something to do with this one day". It all starts with bad shopping habits! Trying to curb that starting with this year's back to school shopping. Only buying necessities! Feeling good that you rarely miss what you purge, Mary!

Oh my!! I have throwing things away like crazy. But that is just how I am. I don't like a lot of extra. So I just get rid of it. Right now...I am throwing away most of my files. It feels good!
