I'm linking up with Kasey from
Doodle Bugs Teaching for
Five for Friday.
1. I spent time walking every morning with my teacher friend around the corner. We met last fall when I was on a walk and have enjoyed a morning walk many days this summer.
2. I picked this guy up at a free veggie stand on my way out to my parents last night. It became some
zucchini bread.
3. Earlier this week I had some fruit in the fridge that needed used up. I found a recipe on
Pinterest for strawberry blueberry muffins. Yum!

Pony beads, various colored/sized pom poms, felt |
|
red, white & blue craft sand; bag of suction cups (need to order sun catchers!) |
|
box of popsicle sticks, bag of feathers, 2 ziplocs of ornament-shaped foam. |
4. Someone at my parents' church used to be a big crafter but was not longer crafting. My mom said she donated tons of materials and wanted me to see if there was anything I wanted. I came out with much more than I thought I would. Any ideas for using above items? Please share!

Blog Meet-Up Goodies! |
|
Picked these goodies up at various vendors throughout the Exhibit Hall. |
5. I finally sorted through a big pile of Vegas freebies and packed them to go to school in a couple weeks.
Have a great weekend!
Love all the craft supplies! You could use the feathers and foam pieces in math and the kiddos sort them by attribute!

Live, Laugh, I love Kindergarten
Great idea, especially for the beginning of the year. Who doesn't like fun supplies to sort?!? I knew I couldn't pass up free; that would have cost me a fortune!

Your craft goodies would be great supplies for a STEM Challenge!

Teachers Are Terrific!
Thanks for another great idea, Carol!

You can use the pony beads for reading or math. Put about 5 or 6 beads on a pipe cleaner. The kids slide the beads over one at a time to count words in a sentence or count sounds in a word. For math you can again put them on a pipe cleaner and make number bond bracelets. For example the bracelet has four beads, the student moves the beads to show 1+3, 2+2, etc... When I taught kdg, my friend and I would use the "foamies" for patterning centers. You could use the pom poms for patterning too or you could have them use tweezers to sort them by color to help with their fine motor skills.

Sand is always good for writing sight words in - especially colored sand! We let the kids throw pom-poms last year, and then measure with footsteps how far they threw them. The pony beads are also great with pipe cleaners for retelling the Thanksgiving story, and for learning about the water cycle.

Love the throwing pom poms and measuring! I've done the Thanksgiving bracelets before, but not the water cycle. I'll have to give that one a try. Thanks!
